San Antonio Film Festival Tickets Now On Sale

Get your tickets now— the San Antonio Film Festival (SAFILM) is coming soon!

Last year’s Awards Ceremony.

The event begins Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and continues through Sunday, Aug. 5. More than 30 features and dozens of short films will be screened this year. There are also free educational panels with industry professionals, nightly afterparties and celebrity appearances.

2018 Festival Highlights include:

WORLD PREMIERE: Stella’s Last Weekend, the new comedy by writer/director Polly Draper (Thirtysomething) starring Draper along with her sons Max and Alex Wolff on Saturday, August 4 at 9 p.m.

FREE SEMINAR — AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE: Michael Jablow, AFI professor and film editor (Old School, Throw Momma from the Train) will discuss the craft of editing on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

HIGH PROFILE INDUSTRY GUESTS: Fred Roos (Francis Ford Coppola Producer); and Robert Deaton (TV & Music Video Producer/Director).

Screening highlights include:

HOMETOWN HEROES: films by local San Antonio filmmakers, will be screened Friday, Aug. 3 at 7:00 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL SHORTS: films by student filmmakers, including several from San Antonio, will be screened Saturday, Aug. 4 at 1:00 p.m.

More than 350 films from 24 different countries will unspool at SAFILM in virtually every genre, from thriller to coming-of-age-story to documentary. Many of them are making their world, state or regional premieres.

SAFILM will also present this year’s Legacy Award to local legend and actor Jesse Borrego, best known for his acting and producing credits in Blood In Blood Out, Lone Star, Con Air, and Colombiana. Borrego will be honored at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, August 4 and makes his directorial debut with Closer to Bottom, which will screen Sunday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.
