Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra Coming to the Aztec Nov. 21

Santa Fe’s Grammy award nominee Ottmar Liebert and his band Luna Negra are coming to the Alamo City to play songs that their fans have come to know and love.

Liebert is a five-time Grammy nominee with multiple Gold and Platinum records who has sold millions across the globe. A skilled practitioner of contemporary flamenco guitar, he is always a surprise. He plays with many textures, contrasting traditional and electric instruments. Ottmar and Luna Negra will play songs from prior albums as well as songs from their latest release, Fete. Currently, the album is available at Bandcamp. CDs will be available at upcoming concerts.

Speaking about his previous release, Slow, Ottmar said, “Sometime in 2015, I decided to record by myself, without the band, and that I wanted to create slow music. For my new album, I wanted to raise my guitar against the sound of billions of smartphones beeping with the latest news, mentions, likes, and comments, keeping us in a state of constant alarm. I also discovered that there has been scientific research into how slow music can relax the listener’s heartbeat and lower their blood pressure.”

“I made all of the music on this album with only one guitar and one microphone,” he added.” Working by myself in the studio felt like writing a very personal diary. For example, I recorded ‘Elegy’ just a day after Prince died.”

Slow music can relax the listener’s heartbeat and lower their blood pressure.

Lisa Strain of the Houston Press said: “If you are feeling the hectic pressures of the world today, we suggest that you pick up the original best selling album, Nouveau Flamenco, or give a listen to Ottmar’s (most recent) solo effort, appropriately titled Slow.”
